What's for sale?
This is a very old, authentic and fully-working, wall-mounted coffee grinder from continental Europe.
The earthenware hopper is decorated with a classic, blue and white windmill scene and "café", or coffee in French. We're assuming it was made for sale in France or French-speaking Belgium.
It has a heavy, iron grinder and crank with wooden-covered handle. On the body of the grinder is an embossed "AK", which we assume was the maker. Beneath is a typical glass container for capturing the ground coffee, which is marked "1/2", "1" and "1 1/2".
We think this was made during the first half of the 20th century. The back board has been repainted or re-varnished at some time since.
