What's for sale?
This is a kitchen storage jar by Price & Kensington potteries, hand-painted with their spongeware blue sheep design. It has a rubber seal and has no label or printing regarding the intended contents.
The decoration was all applied by hand, using shaped pieces of sponge. There was a full range of tableware also available with this pattern, including teapots, mugs, plates and various serving dishes.
Who made it and when?
It's modern, by Staffordshire pottery Price & Kensington. The range was discontinued several years ago. The maker's mark is embossed on the base and reads:
What condition is it in?
- Second-hand
- In excellent condition
- No chips or damage
- There are some paint marks from manufacture underneath
- The rubber seal is tight but is probably less flexible than it was when new

- 12cm diameter (4.75 inches)
